Hello! I’m Alex - a tenacious and inquisitive leader transforming public services to better serve residents and communities.
I’m a candid, open, and compassionate team leader, believing that my first responsibility is to serve the team and meet their needs. I adapt my communication and leadership style to meet the situation, recognising when to lead by example and when to coach others.
I’m in my element unpicking complex issues or trying to bring order from chaos. I bring together multi-disciplined groups to calmly build consensus and work towards common goals. I prefer working with people at the frontline of public services, bringing their experiences and ideas to the centre. I’m an advocate for robust, compassionate change management.
I have a thirst for new ideas and perspectives that I can use to create innovative solutions to problems. I’m an evidence driven decision maker who balances decisiveness with thoughtfulness.
I facilitate impactful change through engaging people and redesigning services. Often, I’ll use technology to help transform our public services. As a means to an end, I prefer technology that is simple, effective, and boring. I use it to solve real world issues, rather than follow the latest fad.
In a past life, I worked in the adventure sport industry and continue to enjoy going paddling, cycling and hiking. As Chair of Marlow Canoe Club, I lead a team of a dozen volunteers to serve a welcoming and inclusive 300 strong community of paddlers. I’m often leading groups of paddlers down whitewater rivers across the UK.
